Plastic bags and water bottles have received a lot of attention in terms of the resources they use and waste they produce. But what about paper cups? Factory Direct Promos took a look at this issue and created an infographic highlighting some pretty astonishing facts about our paper cup consumption.
So how do we make a change? Shane Shirley-Smith from FDP says:
“The cool thing about reusing cups is that both consumers and businesses can really get behind the effort to make an impact on the future health of our environment. We think it would be great if every fast food restaurant out there designed and offered their own reusable drinkware for patrons to purchase and use over and over at their restaurant and others. They could even offer free drinks or at least a discount each time folks used it. They might even offer a bigger discount if one of their competitors cups is used. Companies and organizations could even have design contests to create their brand’s reusable cups.
This can be a fun way for so many people to reduce and reuse. We can do something about this together if we demand reusables or begin to bring our own cups when we buy a drink.”
